Custom adhesive specialist NADCO Tapes and Labels has added digital capability to its business through the acquisition of a Mark Andy Digital One. Like other early adopters of the hybrid technology, Neil Doniger, owner of NADCO Tapes and Labels was introduced to Digital One at Labelexpo Americas 2016. Digital One is a small footprint dry-toner label press engineered by Mark Andy. The Sarasota, FL-based manufacturer has made strides in recent years establishing a comprehensive hybrid portfolio with various entry points for all businesses. Digital One, the entry-level unit, is made up of inline converting and finishing, flexo decoration and high-quality digital print. “Mark Andy didn’t just sell us a press, they sold us a future,” says Doniger, when reflecting on his experience with the Digital One and its ability to help his business reduce stock inventory by 5%. “At NADCO, we are proud of our ability to bend industry norms, doing things people haven’t done before and solving problems for the printing and die-cutting world. This digital press is an extension of that, making us one of the best-kept secrets in the converting market.” Nadco was not entirely new to digital printing, but leery about investing in another digital press due to a prior experience with an unreliable asset that did not meet its needs. Digital was in its infancy when the company acquired its first digital press from another manufacturer, and Doniger says it was not ready to meet their expectations. He says the Mark Andy solution eliminated every issue they faced, minimizing costly downtime, operator dissatisfaction, and click-charges. For leadership at Nadco, capability and application range of a digital hybrid asset were the most important factors in their decision making process. The low investment level of Digital One was simply an added bonus. “Lack of the need for expensive topcoat is a game changer,” shares Doniger. “This flexibility paired with our current expertise in tape now allows us to service any market worldwide.”
